Build of vaapi with BR2_PACKAGE_MESA3D_DRI_DRIVER is broken since commit
17a7abbafe because vaapi can only be
enabled with x11, wayland or egl-drm
(ec0006bfa1/wscript (L632)):
'deps': 'libdl && (x11 || wayland || egl-drm)',
As a result, despite what is being displayed in the autobuilder log
message, the build failure is not related to X11 but to the fact that
we try to enable vaapi through a DRI driver but without egl.

Build of vaapi with egl-drm is broken since commit
6ec47c4e59 because egl-drm is a part of gl
group which is only enabled if BR2_PACKAGE_HAS_LIBGL or
BR2_PACKAGE_HAS_LIBGLES are set:
ec0006bfa1/wscript (L572)
As a result, despite what is being displayed in the autobuilder log
message, the build failure is not related to X11 but to the fact that
we try to enable vaapi through egl-drm but at the same time, we disable
gl.
To fix it, enable gl if libegl is available as gl can be enabled for
example through wayland and egl (gl-wayland):
'deps': 'gl-cocoa || gl-x11 || egl-x11 || egl-drm || '
+ 'gl-win32 || gl-wayland || rpi || '
+ 'plain-gl',

libmpv-static and libmpv-shared are disabled by default resulting in the
following build failure when building with gl but without rpi, wayland
or x11:
Checking for OpenGL without platform-specific code (e.g. for libmpv) : libmpv-shared not found
Checking for OpenGL context support : gl-cocoa not found
You manually enabled the feature 'gl', but the autodetection check failed.
Here is an extract of wscript:
} , {
'name': '--plain-gl',
'desc': 'OpenGL without platform-specific code (e.g. for libmpv)',
'deps': 'libmpv-shared || libmpv-static',
'func': check_true,
}, {
'name': '--gl',
'desc': 'OpenGL context support',
'deps': 'gl-cocoa || gl-x11 || egl-x11 || egl-drm || '
+ 'gl-win32 || gl-wayland || rpi || '
+ 'plain-gl',
'func': check_true,
'req': True,
'fmsg': "No OpenGL video output found or enabled. " +
"Aborting. If you really mean to compile without OpenGL " +
"video outputs use --disable-gl.",
}, {
Enabling both the shared and static libraries is not allowed by mpv, so
we consider the BR2_STATIC_LIBS to be static, and otherwise (i.e.
BR2_SHARED_LIBS and BR2_SHARED_STATIC_LIBS) to be shared.

According to

"In theory, a user can still use --disable-stdatomic to enable the
emulation code, but that's sort of hidden. Actual support will be
removed after the next release or so."
Although adding --disable-stdatomic could fix the current issue we
require gcc >= 4.9 now to follow the recommendation from upstream.

At this time :
- Lua 5.3.5 will be the last one of its serie.
- Lua 5.4 is up coming (lua-5.4.0-work2 is already available).
- Lua 5.2.4 was released on 2015.
For various reasons in the Lua ecosystem, the Lua 5.1 will stay.
On BR, Lua 5.3 is the default version since 2016.02.
So, the serie which could be removed is the 5.2.x.
We could wait some days for other user feedback.
Note: see discussion when 5.3.x was introduced :

arbitrary code via a crafted web site, because it reads HTML documents

Between 0.24.0 and 0.25.0, mpv has changed its logic around the
detection/usage of X11 (in upstream commit
927afa311d). Instead
of having fine grained option for x11, xext, xinerama, xscreensaver and
xrandr, mpv now requires all five libraries to be available in order to
enable X.org support.
Therefore, this commit adjusts the mpv packaging so that:
1. All necessary X11 libraries are selected if BR2_PACKAGE_XORG7 is
enabled. It would indeed be too cumbersome for the user to know that
all of x11, xext, xinerama, xscreensaver and xrandr are necessary in
order to have X.org support.
2. mpv.mk is simplified by enabling X.org support when
BR2_PACKAGE_XORG7 is enabled.

The initial fix for this issue, re-including stdbool.h, is not
working.
Instead, fix using the method used for other packages with a similar
problem: add -std=gnu99, which prevents bool from being redefined and
removes the need for any source code change.
